Believe Consulting BASES supervised Experience training programme.
Amanda Owens at Believe Consulting offers a specialised Humanistic & GESTALT framework over three years to gain BASES Supervised Experience and BASES Psychology Support Accreditation. The course programme has been developed so there is a gradual increase in awareness and development of the practitioner/trainee sport psychologist over three years and concomitant levels of being an effective and proficient sport psychologist. Sport Psychology trainee’s are encouraged to gain as much experience in the applied field as possible. This encourages the trainee to learn experentially which is aligned with supervisor monitoring and assistance.
The Supervised Experience programme run by Amanda Owens offers a multi method approach covering:
- Humanistic Counselling techniques and approaches/Person Centred therapy/PCT;
Gestalt approaches/Counselling techniques/frameworks;
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques (CBT);
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Social psychology.
The underlying framework of Gestalt /Humanistic based approaches is a necessary part of the supervised experienced programme, the process of self-development and becoming an effective practitioner and sport psychologist, is the requirement for self-development and understanding the ‘self ‘ as a practitioner *.
At Believe Consulting we state that a pre-requisite to becoming an accredited Sport Psychologist, is completing a recognised Humanistic counselling course/and or Gestalt counselling course. The programme leaders offer suggestions and information regarding which counselling course would be best suited for each individual.
How?The programme is designed so that Supervised Experience (SE) students are provided with EIGHT-day workshops (September to May excluding December).
In addition, students receive individual coaching and guidance/one-to-one tuition/coaching.
The Course Programme Leader Amanda Owens is the course leader as well as providing guest speakers and presenters who run the programme. Amanda is accredited by the British Association of Sport And Exercise Sciences (BASES) and is a recognised Accredited Sport and Exercise psychologist (support) with over ten years applied practitioner experience.
